Abstract
There is shortly described the definition and the pathophysiology of gestational diabetes in the beginning of the chapter and the risks of gestational diabetes for both the mother and the child. There is further described the screening of gestational diabetes in pregnancy and currently used diagnostic criteria as well as their coming changes.
In more details there is described the recommended system of follow up and the treatment of patients with gestational diabetes including the instructions for the labour.
