A large number of positive results has been reported for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) application in various fields of medicine, including orthopaedic surgery. This article presents a review of studies in the PRP treatment of the tendon, ligament, muscle, and cartilage disorders.
Although the results are sometimes controversial, the main trend was reported to be positive. The minimal risk of side effects, ease of the procedure and potential benefits make PRP highly promising for a wide range of clinical applications.
Further investigation is strongly desirable for the determination of the effective dose and appropriate PRP application techniques.
