Abstract

The book under review presents the life and work of an Egyptian bishop Severus of Ashmounain (10th c.). Particular attention is paid to his activities in the field of theology where he is famous for his formulation of the Christian creed in Arabic language in that arose in the environment of Arabic speaking majority and in constant confrontation with the developing theology of Islam.
