Abstract
After years of surprising vacuum, this international conference (fischer-symposium.webnode.cz) illuminated and evaluated the work and impact of Otokar Fischer, multilateral intellectual and artist. Conference papers stressed the ambiguity of Fischer´s national identity, the tensions between Jewish and chosen Czech identity as well as the options that werde rendered by the horizons of German literature and cultural life.
