Abstract
Introductory study, translation and commentary to the Hippocratic Oath. The study analyses extensively the character of this very specific and extremely influential text, discusses various hypotheses of the origin of the text, as well as its use during following centuries.
The relevance of the Oath for the dilemmas and controversies of the contemporary medicine is discussed, too.
