The article focuses on various kinds of pulp. It traces the forms of folk spirituality (devotional and votive objects or charms) and its caricatured transformation, analyzes different aspects of pulp, such as its scarce aesthetic as well as economic value, substitute of materials, reflection of set models, serial production, superficiality and clearcut impression.
It deals with the question to what extent may be categories of kitsch and pulp taken as equal, if there exists religious or cult pulp, and what can be inferred about the nature of pulp from such synonyms as "rubbish', 'trash" or " bric-à-brac".
