Vlach Roma living in Eastern Slovakia represent an isolated language island of speakers of Vlach Romani dialect. This study concerned on Vlach comunity in a village, where was the oldest Vlach sedentarisation of Vlach Roma in this region.
Today is the Roma community subethnically mixed and the status position among other Vlax Roma communities is very low. This study concentrate on the significance of language as a cornerstone of Vlax identity and also on the switching of codes between Romani dialects and social prestige of Vlax Romani.
