Contemporary organized crime as a political actor and a security threat

Abstract

The text is devoted to new and as yet insufficiently described forms of organized crime. In its modern forms it is the most pressing security threat in many respects resembles the concept of mafia.

Criminal syndicates obtain not only economic but also political and judicial power. Some sectors of economy, or even entire states are now controlled by criminal syndicates.
