Abstract
The book concerns the change in attitudes towards religion in contemporary literature – Fukuyama, Huntington, Toffler, Gore etc. Whereas until recently the modern idea of religion as a subjective and private matter prevailed, the idea of religion as the ultimate stage of society that revives the awareness of the metaphysical horizon, value system and social moral standards, which gives an important impetus to the rhythm of life, is currently increasingly gaining strength.
Theology ceases to perceive confessional religiosity as modern paganism, but tries to reflect it as a mysterious power pervading the whole of society. Religion, which is now projected into feelings of absolute dependence without confessional relations, refers to a situation similar to its (ancient) origins, which have nothing solid and yet theology could cope with this condition.
From this milieu comes the theology of the simple life (Czechoslovak Hussite Church), which is a typical representative of the efforts outlined above, and which is discussed in the book from different perspectives – from theoretical considerations the author easily moves to practical applications – ethics in social and charitable work, the personal growth of the social worker, the meaning of marriage and the family, finding solid points in a pluralistic society, etc.
