Conditions of professional development of teachers in the Czech Republic

Abstract

The theme of this contribution is professional development of teachers and the conditions of such development. The autor comments on current school legislation and its influence on the quality of teachers´ profession.

She stresses the significance of the preparatory study for teachers´ profession which is the foundation for professional development. The contribution offers a critical survey of the current situation of the in-service teachers´ training in the Czech republic.

As a possible example of complex support system, she mentions the project of career system of teachers under preparation where the basic role is placed on teachers´ standard and on the development of pedagogical activity of the teacher.
