Interpretation and application of the new Civil Code in the light of current EU law, or is the change even possible? (focused on the consumer)

Abstract

The article focuses on the impact of the law of European Union on the New Civil Code which has been recently adopted in the Czech Republic. The main emphasis is put on the matters related to consumer protection.

The purpose of this article is to find out to what extent, if any, the recent regulation of consumer protection in the Czech law will be changed. The impacts of these changes and limits of the EU law on judicial practice is examined as well.
