Abstract
This chapter was newly added to the third edition of the book. To determine the correct diagnosis in orthopedics is especially important history, clinical examination and imaging.
Laboratory diagnosis in orthopedics playing against clinical laboratory disciplines helpful, but certainly not negligible role. Crucial importance of laboratory tests in the diagnosis of infectious diseases, especially infectious complications in joint replacement.
Many frequently used laboratory tests then help in the differential diagnosis and are discussed in detail in the chapters devoted primarily rheumatology and bone metabolism.
