Abstract
A review of a very important monograph dealing with history of the University of Tartu (Dorpat) in Estonia. Tartu University has undergone very complicated develompents (since its foundation in 1632 till present day), depending on changing political regimes, ruling ideologie s and educational systéme, mostly in the 20th century.
