Change through rapprochement? The "new German Ostpolitik" from Prague's perspective

Abstract

As part of the "new German Ostpolitik" after 1969 the ratio of Czechoslovakia played a special role, because the negotiations on the Treaty of Prague from 1973 designed due to disputes over the valuation of the Munich Agreement of 1938 as particularly difficult. The article outlines the former operations that ultimately led to the improvement of bilateral relations and Helsinki process also helped the development of the dissident movement in Czechoslovakia breakthrough.
