Abstract
On the initiative of the Roman Catholic chaplain Josef Durek, a Catholic cultural centre was built in Litomyšl. Upon its opening in 1922, it was consecrated by the papal nuncio Clemente Micara.
Despite the protests of some church dignitaries, Josef Durek managed to complete the construction, even obtaining a financial contribution from Pope Benedict XV. Durek also raised donations from compatriots in the USA.
The contribution consists of the edition of documents from the Vatican archives relating to this Litomysl´s cause.
