Abstract

Apart from the importance of management of pre-gestational and gestational diabetes during pregnancy, there has lately also been stressed out the significance of dyslipidemia, hypertension and obesity during pregnancy, in both diabetics and non-diabetics. That is because these factors serve as predictors of further complications and also influence further risks to the mother following childbirth, as well as the child's whole life.

It is thus very important to adjust body weight prior to pregnancy, properly manage the weight increase during pregnancy and to not only treat diabetes during pregnancy, but to rigorously treat hypertension as well as to administer vitamin D supplements.
