The Conference discussed the relationship of Theology and Social Work as a dialogue between Theology and Society. Based on examples, in which Theology contributes to Social Work methods and attitudes as well as on opposite cases, in which theological reflection benefits from Social Work, it endeavoured to explore the relationship further.
Conference papers and workshops took mostly the perspectives of Practical Theology, Social Work, Social Pedagogy and Philosophy as this interdisciplinary approach has been often reflected in the courses given by Jabok Institute and PTF UK in areas such as Work with Families, Youth Work, Special Pedagogy, Leisure Time Pedagogy, Human Rights, Ethical Education etc. The Conference theme stemed from JABOK’s long-term quest for a fruitful concept of the relationship between Theology and Social Work.
It is also a key concept of its Diploma Course in Social Work and Theology and of its BA Course in Pastoral and Social Work, offered in association with the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague.
