Abstract
The chapter concerns the concept of dementia and specific topics connected with care for people with cognitive impairment and loss of orientation and memocry. The individual phases of the disease are described with its specific needs of care and support.
Ethical dilemas of the care are also mentioned. Finally the system of health and social care is presented as well as the needs of family carers.
