Modelling in biology teaching (1) (how to introduce selected biological phenomena to pupils)

Abstract

There are several biological phenomena which are crutial for understanding the principles of biology. These are often hidden or too small to be easily seen.

But we teach them at all school levels and want the pupils to know them. Because molecular biology, genetics and virology seem to be difficult to be taught practically and there are several important principles in these disciplines, we decided to show some low cost approaches.

In this article, we describe instructions for modelling genetic shift in influenza virus.
