An overview of the use of palladium catalysts based on nanoparticles or deposited palladium compounds in the catalysis of C-C bond forming reactions. Cross-coupling reactions have become an indispensable tool for creating new carbon-carbon and, more recently, also carbon-heteroatom bonds.
After a brief survey of the most frequently encountered reaction types, the present review gives examples of the reactions performed in the presence of Pd nanoparticles or supported heterogeneous Pd catalysts. The new catalytic systems are effective mediators of cross-coupling reactions with a great practical potential.
