Contemporary entomological science represents strongly diversified branch of zoological knowledge. Besides the traditional faunistic and taxonomical base of research the plethora of specializations with interdisciplinary connections and applications to medicine, agriculture, forestry, and even judgment have arisen during the first half of twentieth century.
Therefore the historical appreciation of development in entomology is needed. This article is dealing with the history o Czech entomology between the years 1900 and 1950.
The paper is divided to the three parts: 1) the development of Czech entomology until 1918, 2) the significance of amateurs in entomology (intermezzo) and 3) the development of Czech entomology after the revolution in 1918.
