Abstract

The aim of this article is to introduce the current (2000–2007) regional dissimilarities in age and sex structure of the physicians of the primary care in the Czech Republic. These analyses are useable for the predicting the future development of the availability of this type of health care.

The group of the physicians of the primary care is in the Czech Republic consisted from the general practitioners, practitioners for children and young, gynecologists and obstetricians, and stomatologists. From the calculations based from the Registry of physicians, stomatologists and pharmaceuticals is clear, that there exist quite important differences in the demographic structure of physicians both studied specializations and regions.

Indispensable role plays there the process of demographic ageing of physicians which is connected with the small numbers of graduated from the last years.
