Risk of dam rupture of the Koltor Lake

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2009

Abstract

In the course of the last few years, the Koltor area has been considered dangerous with respect to the possibility of the failure of the dam caused by more and more frequent torrential rains and a rise in the water level during intensive glacial discharge in the summer. Monitoring measurements taken in 2005 and 2008 at the Lake Koltor dam showed that no significant changes to the leakage process have taken place during the last four years.
