Pseudocryptic diversity and cosmopolitanism in the freshwater diatom Navicula cryptocephala species complex
Abstract
Phylogenetic analyses of N. cryptocephala from middle Europe and Australia confirmed the existence of genetically distinct lineages which differ in nuclear structure and in reproduction. These cryptic species coexist sympatrically and have cosmopolitan distribution.
