The paper seeks to highlight the essential role of Greek Orthodox church for the Ukrainian minority in the Czech Republic, especially in Prague, and to describe its role after World War Two until 1989, when it was basically the only mediator in the search for the contact with the Ukrainian Greek Catholic minority. The influence of Greek Orthodox church is manifest in the establishment and existence of Ukrainian community associations after 1989.
Its role is still important as a mediator for the contact with newly coming Ukrainians as economic immigrants.
