Abstract
The contribution focuses on the concept of parenthood in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in general and about the motherhood. The author explains fundamental notions used in common law in connection with parenthood and shows reasons of British legislator to enact the institute of surrogacy in laws.
