Abstract

The article presents arguments against the notion of the role of religion in civil society held by American sociologist Peter Berger: This notion conceals within itself the elevation of a certain cultural particularism into the universal concern of humanity and as such leads to major distortions and omissions in the evaluation of religious groups mentioned in Berger´s article.
