Abstract
The demand for lucid brevity in the exposition of the Scripture is one of Calvin?s popular dicta. The article surveys two texts where Calvin explains his concept of exegesis at more length and tries to show these seemingly just practical concerns as integral part of the theological thinking of the Swiss reformer.
