Abstrakt

An exegetical and homiletic survey of the passage of 1st letter to Corinthians 9:24-27. St.Paul makes use of the metapher of running which reveals him as someone quite well acquainted with the culture of Hellenism.

The passage is an example of inculturation, an attempt to communicate concepts across the cultural borders. To understand the message of the passage one has to have grasp of the concepts of Antiquity.
