Abstract

This article gives a brief review on dendritic cells (DC) with regard to their origin, life cycle and functions. The regulation of immune responses by DC functioning as antigen-presenting cells is discussed.

Special attention is given to epidermal DC, e.g. Langerhans cells.

The perspectives of DC-based therapy are also mentioned.
