The ultrastructure of the rabbit tracheal epithelium was studied 15 min and 30 min after oral administration of 5 ml of Ventolin sirup (2 mg of salbutamol). 15 min post exposure, the injury to the tracheal epithelium due to the treatment with a single therapeutic dose of an oral bronchospasmolytic drug that belongs to the family of the selective beta(2) adrenergic agonists was considered moderate. Morphological signs of impaired self-cleaning ability were revealed especially in the later phase of the experiment. 30 min after administration of salbutamol, signs of regeneration of the injury prevailed in the epithelium.
