The article deals with unconventional medicine as viewed by general practitioners and provides with empirical outcomes of a national survey focused on attitudes and conduct of GP's in this matter. Unconventional medicine is a widespread phenomenon in the everyday practice and the GP's meet frequent demands or queries of their patients.
The community of GP's is heterogenous and generational shifts were observed. Highest tolerance was found in acupuncture, however the training and education concern was aimed mostly at homeopathy.
At least 20% of the GP's provide unconventional treatment or prescribes homeopathic remedies.
