Abstract

The results of the present study revealed higher pituitary-adrenocortical response to mild stressor of acute handling in SHR than in Wistar Kyoto rats. SHR showed also higher anxiety related behavior than WKY rats when measured by elevated plus-maze test.

These results suggest common pathways for neuroendocrine and behavioral changes in the SHR
