Abstract
The study deals with technical solution of a novel high-frequency ventilator. The main advantage of the solution is a constant inspiratory gas flow in inspirium; therefore, the ventilator acts as a volume-controlled ventilator with a very high output impedance.
These characteristics are unique among commercially available ventilators. The ventilator allows a direct tidal volume setting during high-frequency ventilation.
