Does identification of rats by limb tattoo interfere with result of thermal nociceptive tests?

Abstract

In experiments there are several ways of identification of laboratoryanimals. Non-invasively, small animals can be signed by dying withpicric acid or tattoo dye.

Besides, there are also invasive methods:e.g. cutting of fingers or ears. However, some of these methods mightinterfere with pain tests.

The aim of this study was to verify thepossibility of interference between plantar test and modified tailflick test, and tattoo of hind limbs.
