Abstract
Addiction is a still an acute problem of nowadays. Drug addiction does not develop within the first taste of the drug and does not progress in each individual, who abuse drugs.
Several factors play a role in this process, such as: factor of environment, stress and also genetic dispositions. This review summarizes all available findings about: what is addiction; how it develops; what brain structures and neurotransmitter systems play a role in it and what are the possibilities of its treatment in nowadays.
