Abstract

The vascular circulation of the unpaired abdominal organs is a complex problem due to the intricate development of the gut, different arterial supply and venous drainage and high clinical relevance, especially in the abdominal surgery and imaging techniques. The aim of this work was to reveal the progress of the recognition of the abdominal circulation step by step from the ancient times until 19th century.
