Abstract

The goal of the study was to verify if the self-efficacy related to food intake is the factor able to predict the weight reduction in twelve weeks courses in overweight reduction applying the cognitive behavioural therapy. The verifying of reliability of the Czech version of Weight Effifacy Life-Style (WEL) Questionnaire was part of the study. 230 women with overweight and obesity (BMI>25) were included in the study. 88 women succeeded to pass out the whole course during which they have cut their weight by 8,6%, p<0.001.

During the therapy, the scores of all five scales of WEL questionnaire as well as its total score have increased, p<0.001. The Cronbach's alpha value suggests the good inner consistence of items of WEL questionnaire.

The negative correlation of weight change and increase of the total score of WEL questionnaire was found, p<0.05.
