Abstract

The large majority of peptic ulcerations that are not associated with H. pylori infection are associated with NSAID ingestion. Peptic ulceration with NSAIDs typically causes no symptoms, but NSAID - induced ulcers can be symptomatic and complicated by GI bleeding, perforation and/or obstruction.

Asymptomatic ulcerations can be documented endoscopically in 15 % to 45 % of patients on chronic NSAID therapy.
