Abstract
PECT/CT is a recent noninvasive imaging technology which put together two sophisticated technologies into one device. It provides two basic type of information about structure and function of human body which are complement to each other not only on the level of technology but also biology.
PET/CT serves partly in clinical practice mainly in the work up of pacients with ischemic heart disease, partly in experiment mainly in the area of molecular biology. This article briefly describes the principle of both technology and explain the complementary role in the evaluation of myocardial perfusion and metabolism.
Potential use in the near future is shortly described.
