Diabetic foot syndrome comprises different pathologic changes of the foot tissues. Scintigraphy with labeled leukocytes is one of many investigations.
It is mainly useful for the assessment of an extent and a stage of inflammation and for differentiation of Charcot's osteoarhtopathy. SPECT/CT makes possible to detect even small changes and a fusion of scintigraphic and CT images significantly improves their localization.
Patient preparation is simple and the examination is not demanding.
