Abstract
7-8 % of pentamidine treated patiens manifest insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Diabetes occurs much more often after i.v. pentamidine application than after inhalation pentamidine therapy.
Hypoglycaemia, sometimes severe often occurs before diabetes manifestation. lnterval between start of pentamidine therapy and diabetes manifestration varies between three days after begining of pentamidine therapy to several months after finishing its application. Large proportion of patiens is dependent on insulin therapy
