Abstract

The article presents an objective analysis of the contents and quality of the book of Johannes Jessenius (1556-1621) describing the public dissection of the human body, which he provided in Prague in year 1600. This 300-pages monograph written in Latin was translated into Czech.

The authors analyzed the importance and usefulness of this book for the actual morphology and medicine in the fact, above all, that this publication is a comprehensive source of the ancient and medieval anatomical nomenclature, presenting Greek, Latin as well as Arabic terms.
