Abstract
Schizophrenia is one of the most severe psychotic illnesses, resulting in high disability rates and long hospitalizations. First symptoms manifest early in life and influence ability to study and work.
The goal of treatment in the 21st century is recovery and not only reduction of symptoms. This monograph covers both theoretical and practical information about the illness, treatment and rehabilitation with particular interest in first-episode management and relapse prevention.
