Abstrakt
PCI is the most effective therapy for STEMI. Ideally it should be performed in experienced centres performing primary PCI in all their STEMI patients as a routine treatment (so that the entire team has sufficient experience with primary PCI itself and with postprimary PCI care).
Fast and precise prehospital logistics (ECG, antithrombotic drugs, direct transfer to catheter laboratory) are equally important as the experience of the acutal PCI center. Networks formed by an experienced PCI center, several surrounding non-PCI hospitals, and a centralized emergency ambulance system are very effective in providing primary PCI for most STEMI patients in the region where such networks have been established
