Abstract
The article summarises the latest findings regarding aetiology, diagnostics and treatment of vaginal infections. Potential negative influences on pregnancy, post-op recovery and acquirement of other, more serious diseases are emphasised; the benefits of the routine examination by cultivation in cases of uncomplicated vaginitis are questioned.
