Abstract

The neuropsychological examination should support a correct and early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease by fulfilling the international criteria of the disease. A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment includes examination of global cognitive ability, memory, verbal abilities and language, executive functions and visuospatial functions.

These cognitive domains may be examined by physicians using simple and concise tests and by psychologists using more complex methods. Their basic description and appropriate usage in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease and related diseases are given.
