Predicting academic success in the first year of medical study: dichotomic approach

Publication |
1998

Abstract

The relationship between entrance examination assessment and academic performance during the first year of medical study dichotomized into success and failure was examined in a sample of 33 women and 43 men divided into two groups: subjects whose GPA equaled to 1.0 (17 men, 12 women) and those who failed to finish the first year of study (26 men, 21 women). Discriminant analysis using the entrance examination assessment allocated 76.3% of the subjects into "correct" group.
