In the Czech Republic total fertility rate dropped below 1.3 in 1995 and it did not increase above 1.5 children per woman till 2007. The increased use of modern contraceptive methods that results in a sharp decline in fertility and in a significant decrease of induced abortions can be documented.
The total abortion rate fell from 1.54 abortion per a woman in 1990 to 0.34 in 2007.
