Abstract
Homolytic acetylation of 2-pyrazinecarbonitrile using pyruvic acid as a source of acetyl radical was studied 5-Acetyl-2-pyrazinecarbonitrile was obtained as the man product. The yield ranged from 5 to 30% depending on reaction conditions.
